[ he's really touched!! xie lian is still unused to having people do such little gestures of kindness for him, even after all this time in the realm... the smile he gives her is a little helpless, but no less warm for it, as he lets yoshizawa lead him off to go sit. ]
[She smiles and leads the way! Though, once he's seated, she doesn't exactly join him. Instead, she clasps her hands together.]
Then, regarding what I said earlier. I spoke to Soo-won-san and Archer-san, so... [And then she bows, briefly but politely.] Thank you so much for all your work!

this is exactly what got him punched, earlier. that he'd failed at saving someone. xie lian had taken the hit with no intention to fight back, no complaints, and he would've taken more, because he felt the guilt more personally than anyone could really imagine. every failure has stacked on his shoulders like weights.
only one of the people he saved is aware of his power - the other is not, and if they never find out, then that's fine, too. xie lian is just glad to have helped, to have been able to do something, to try and stop the endless cycle of death in the realm.
but to be thanked for it, is...
...his expression softens into something touched, and he bows his head. ]
...I am, yes. [
people are so kind, sometimes. these are the kind of things he never forgets. ] ...I wasn't able to do it as well as I would have liked, but... I am glad, that I was able to do something. There is nothing to thank me for.
...I did try. [ he always tries, doesn't he? and it's rarely good enough - usually, when he tries, xie lian ends up just making things worse, and this time was rarely different, but... he won a few victories, in the end. ]
Your words mean a lot to me, Miss Yoshizawa. Thank you.

[ he will allow this fussing, then, stepping out of the way to let her do whatever she needs to get him ice, very touched by this sweet gesture. ]

She shakes her head.]
But you tried, didn't you? And furthermore, your job was among the most difficult! How can I not thank you for doing what you could to help?
