[HELLO, ROOMIE... The RNG gods have spoken, so guess Hua Cheng will arrive in their room after she does. The dulcet tones of kazoo Memory spill out of the room as soon as the door is open, and inside he will find one (1) teenage girl, riffling through the closet as she pulls out one of the decidedly Tall Person Sized outfits out for inspection. She lifts her head up once she notices him, blinking, before she seems to suddenly realize something.]
Oh! [Sheepishly... putting the outfit... back... Is it the PJs or the change of clothes? This is a mystery only you can answer.] I'm sorry. I didn't realize these belonged to someone else.
[ The RNG gods have decided that she will not be subjected to ATTACK AND DETHRHONE GOD booty shorts, so there's that. Hua Cheng looks from small red girl to large red outfit, not too unlike the clothes he's already wearing if his glance tells him right, then back again when she starts... putting it back. ]
Honest mistake. It's not as if there's a nametag, is there? [ He definitely sounds amused. ] But while that's certainly your color, I don't imagine it'd fit well.
[Nodding in agreement, with a soft huff of laughter. He doesn't seem annoyed to find her snooping through his stuff, so that's good?]
Well, it would certainly be convenient if there was a nametag! I really didn't mean to go through your belongings. [The room hunt. It haunts her. Why didn't the welcome message come with instructions. She peers at him curiously, conspicuously sizing him up.] Judging by the situation... I suppose we're roommates?
[ More important things to be annoyed about than this, in his opinion - the kidnapping being the number one thing. But he steps in, folding his arms behind his back with a small incline of his head. ]
I don't think there's anything of particular importance besides clothes, so it's no trouble. [ He joins her, humming as he looks into the closet. ] If we're going by the plaque on the door, I'm guessing so, so long as your name is Kasumi and mine is Hua Cheng.
Whatever good humor she had is completely and utterly gone now. Her shoulders slump as soon as he speaks that name.]
Actually... About that... [She brushes her bangs out of her face, looking a little bit pained.] I believe there's been some kind of mistake. Kasumi Yoshizawa is my sister. But she's... not here, and I can't find my own name anywhere.
[ While his expression doesn't change much, he regards her, considering that information and the way her voice, face, and posture change. Not here, is it? ]
That would explain the - [ He makes quotation marks with one hand. ] - of her name, then. I suppose you're regardless in the right place, insomuch as one can be in the right place when you've been kidnapped with this kind of mistake on top of it.
Yes... We're twins, so I suppose I could understand how such a mistake would happen. [Among other reasons, though she isn't going to bring those up.] But the quotation marks are rather strange, aren't they? And everything else on the smartphone seemed correct, as well. I can't help but to wonder how much they know about us, and how they got their hands on that information.
[the real reason is that i, kyuu, wanted to fuck with her. it's fine? it's fine.]
[HELLO, ROOMIE... At some point late into Monday night, Sumire is going to return to their shared room looking a little bit, uh. Moist? Which is to say, she looks like she recently took the Nestea plunge in a piranha pit. Her clothes and hair are wet, and her face and arms are scratched up, a stray bite here and there.
She pauses once she spots him, glances around the room like she's wondering what to say, and then settles on a very awkward:]
... Please, excuse me.
[DON'T... MIND HER AS SHE TRACKS A LITTLE BIT OF WATER ACROSS THE FLOOR TO GRAB SOMETHING FROM THE CLOSET. IT'S FINE. THIS IS FINE.]
[ Boots discarded at the foot of his bed, and one arm folded behind his head, Hua Cheng is just - laying on his bed, fiddling with his device as he leaves absent notes in it. It's only when there's a pause that he looks away, and only through sheer virtue of being Hua Cheng does he not double take.
He does blink, though, moving to sit up. ]
You look like you've had an eventful day. [ Beat, and he does her the courtesy of. Turning his head so that she's in his blind spot.
[ No prying, here - he already has a few guesses, but what's the point in posing them to her right out of the gate? It really is fine, probably? ]
The information on the - smartphone, was it? - was overall correct for myself, and others have verified it, as well. Despite the phrasing, in some cases. But that only lends validity, not answers. [ A dry chuckle. ] Well, regardless. We've got the time to discuss it, but I'd rather have all the facts. If Kasumi is your sister, what should I be calling you?
[It's fine. She's just rooting through the closet for her PJs, and will wait to lock herself in the bathroom before doing anything else.]
I left a note in the kitchen for everyone to see. But, ah... Be careful if you visit the river at night. If you fall in, you may be attacked by the creatures who live in it.
[PHS profiles, why do you hate her, specifically? Well, the upcoming NPC explanation will help her come from a theory. But for now, her eyes widen when she's asked about her name.]
O-Oh, right. I'm sorry, it almost slipped my mind to introduce myself. [She bows from the waist, polite.] My name is Sumire Yoshizawa.
[She nods while sliding the closet door shut, walking over to the nightstand so she can shove her glasses into their case. How did these stay on her face during this mess? A mystery.]
Yes, they were mermaids. Tsukino-san added an illustration to the note, if you happen to come from a world without them.
[It may or may not be an accurate drawing. (Spoilers: It is not an accurate drawing.)]
[ She didn't summon her Persona so of course they stayed on - ahem, anyways. He narrows his gaze at the little puddle he's considering, not really that concerned with it since it's not really that much of a mess. ]
I can guess what they would be - we've a number of different things living in rivers alone that would probably be comparable.
[ It's fine he's used to inaccurate art. ] At least you came out of it more or less intact. Just wet.
We got lucky... If Tsukino-san hadn't thought to talk to them, it would have been a lot worse.
[Thank you, Usagi, for holding the braincell just This Once. Now that her glasses are safely tucked away, though, she squints at the floor with a frown.]
... Um, sorry. I promise I'll clean this up later.
[All these PCs have been in the same location so I am taking the executive decision to set this in the (throws dart) kitchen. Farewell, Pavo room.
Anyway— At some point of Sunday, way after the execution, Sumire will be in the kitchen steeping A Lot of tea and getting an equally large amount of coffee started. She has some to-go containers stacked up in one corner of the kitchen, and will glance up once she notices him.]
... Hello. [It sure has been a day, huh.] Do you want some tea? Or coffee?
[ It was nice to be in Pavo together while it lasted, alas... but Hua Cheng has no intention of not talking to Sumire again. Unfortunately, he is fond.
And worried. He will never admit to the latter, except for the part where he seeks out his roommate. ]
Sumire. I've never had coffee, actually. [ Wasn't brought to ancient fantasy China yet. ]
Sometimes, you can reason with monsters enough to get out of trouble. You were absolutely lucky if that was the case - you were in their territory, where they have the advantage. A few scratches and bruises was the best case scenario.
[ But he waves his hand, getting up to grab a towel. At first, it seems like he's going to take it to the trail she's left - but he drops it on her head, instead. ]
Worry about yourself, for now. There's enough going on that getting sick on top of it wouldn't exactly be the best.
I think it would be safe to say you're not alone in that. [ Him? Not especially.
It is very frustrating, though. ] I will say this place isn't like any that I've ever been, so adjusting to that will be interesting. But so many people seem used to the things here.
[WELL. Guess she's running into him while he does his laundry! Is he washing them in the river or has he learned what a washing machine is? Questions I should have asked before. Please help the ye oldes.]
[Don't start the path to caffeine addiction just yet, Hua Cheng... She looks surprised by this fact, though, glancing back at the coffee pot with a frown.]
... Perhaps we oughtn't start you off with my brew. It's not quite the greatest.
[All those visits to Leblanc spoiled her for coffee.]
